Description du catalogue

A rare pair of men’s Anello & Davide ’Beatle’ boots, 1962, hand-made of black leather with elasticated sides, pointed blunt-tipped toes, shaped heels, size 8

The vendor of this lot went to see the Beatles perform live at the Smethwick Baths in the West Midlands, 19th November 1962. They had just released their first no 1 hit ’Love Me Do’. The band were wearing identical boots to these. The vendor luckily met the group after the performance and asked where they had acquired them. Paul McCartney told him ’I think that they had them made at a theatrical shoe maker in Charing Cross, London called Anello & Davide’. The vendor made an order for an identical pair.
