Exhibition History: ’Thea Porter: 70’s Bohemian Chic’ at The Fashion and Textile Museum, 2015
The ’Samawa’ print was designed by artist Sandra Munro and was based on the Samawa carpets of southern Iraq. Porter used these crewel-embroidered rugs to craft coats for her Autumn/Winter 1970-71 collection and commissioned Sandra Munro to design a pattern based on the embroidered textiles.
This dress was worn by Lamorna Seale at her 1972 wedding to Thea Porter’s brother, Patrick Seale.
