 ’Samawa’ print was designed by artist Sandra Munro and was based on th
 e Samawa carpets of southern Iraq. Porter used these crewel-embroidered ru
 gs to craft coats for her Autumn/Winter 1970-71 collection and commissione
 d Sandra Munro to design a pattern based on the embroidered textiles.\n\nT
 his dress was worn by Lamorna Seale at her 1972 wedding to Thea Porter’s
