They were photographed together on several occasions, notably at various performances by tenor Plácido Domingo in Paris, at an ANDAM dinner in 2011, at the Musée d’Orsay’s annual dinners, and during major charitable events.

Jean-Michel Othoniel Jean-Michel Othoniel b. 1964 Pair of glass bricks glass each: 6,1 x 21,7 x 10,3 cm; 2 ⅜ x 8 ½ x 4 in. Ces deux briques sont des modules créés par Jean-Michel Othoniel pour la réalisation de ses œuvres. La brique en verre miroité violet a été créée par l’artiste pour un projet spécial en hommage à Elisabeth Taylor, à la demande de Doris Brynner qui souhaitait organiser un grand diner en l’honneur de l’actrice. L’artiste a conçu cette pièce en hommage à la couleur des yeux de l’actrice. Cet évènement devait être organisé à la Tour Eiffel sous le patronage d’Elton John mais n’a jamais eu lieu. La brique en verre miroité bleu a été offerte par l’artiste à Doris Brynner lors d’une visite de son studio à Montreuil en juillet 2021 en remerciement de sa venue et au nom de leur amitié.

Collection Yul Brynner The two pairs of spurs presented here were worn by Yul Brynner in the role of Chris Adams during the filming of The Magnificent Seven (1960). Screen-used costume accessories, they were an integral part of the Western outfit designed for the character, whose dark, streamlined silhouette contrasted with that of the rest of the group. Brynner, who was particularly attentive to his on-screen appearance, took part in selecting certain elements of his costume, including these spurs, which are visible in several scenes of the film. Directed by John Sturges, The Magnificent Seven is the American adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai. Shot in Mexico, the film brings together Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter, and Horst Buchholz as a group of mercenaries hired to defend a village. The film has since become a classic of the Western genre and one of the most iconic roles of Brynner’s career.

Henri Cartier-Bresson The decisive moment, New York, 1952, with a written dedication by Henri Cartier-Bresson to Yul and Doris Brynner with a dedication from the author, Henri Cartier-Bresson in black ink “à Yul et Doris/ avec mon très amical souvenir/ Henri” Images à la Sauvette (titled The Decisive Moment in its American edition) is considered one of the most influential photography books ever published. It brings together photographs from the first twenty years of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s career. The book was the result of a collaboration between the photographer, the renowned art critic and publisher Tériade, and a painter at the height of his career. It was published in 1952 by Verve, featuring an original cover by Matisse. The American edition, released the same year by Simon and Schuster, would unknowingly popularize the concept of the “decisive moment.” Acclaimed in the art world and called a “bible for photographers” by Robert Capa, the book illustrates the duality of Cartier-Bresson’s work, balancing intimate observation with documentary insight. Today, it remains an essential reference for countless photographers.

Peter Marino | Ateliers Saint Jacques Peter Marino (b. 1949) & Ateliers Saint-Jacques a set of three silvered bronze boxes, 2012–2019 one signed with a geometric and hammered two-tone design, dated 2016, numbered 7/100 ; one signed with a hammered scale pattern design, dated 2017, numbered 17/50 ; the third signed with a geometric and hammered design, dated 2018, numbered 27/50; the set bears the founder’s mark of Ateliers Saint-Jacques (3) Long. de 8 à 10,5 cm ; Length : from 3 1/8 in to 4 1/8 in In 2009, Peter Marino became fascinated by the discovery of a ship dating back to 350 BC, found off the Turkish coast on the route from Greece to Italy, containing a treasure of bronze works more than 2,000 years old. Captivated by the ability of this material to withstand the passage of time, he began working with bronze, blending architecture and ornamentation to create sculpted boxes in cast bronze. Each of these pieces can take up to a year to complete and reflects Marino’s deep attachment to ancient bronze-working traditions. The boxes are entirely handcrafted at the Ateliers Saint-Jacques, at the heart of our metalworking studio. Each series draws its inspiration from organic forms and diverse cultural references, and stands out through a variety of finishes and patination techniques.
