 hem hand-painted in pink\, lined in black silk\, with stand collar\, light
 ly-padded shoulders\, hook and eye fastenings\, chest 81cm\, 32in\n The fa

 chiaparelli sketches Volume 13\, plate 46.The sketch indicates that the ja
 cket was originally intended to be worn with a matching midnight blue bias
 -cut dress with pointed front collar and a towering hat with curved\, undu
 lating brim.\nThe floral embroidery is reminiscent of that found on men’
 s court waistcoats of the late 18th century\, but with the scale boldly en
