Schiaparelli Le Roy Soleil Perfume Bottle and Case
French, 1947
The glass flacon in the form of a rock lapped by waves accentuated with blue and gold paint, the sun-shaped crystal stopper painted in gold with surreal motif of black flying birds creating features of a face, the whole sitting on oval platform trimmed in purple velvet within case of oversize gilt-metal seashell lined in padded ecru silk, blue ribbon label: Le Roy Soleil/Schiaparelli/Paris, the same on shell casing.
This was designed by Salvador Dali and produced in a limited edition of two thousand bottles by Baccarat.
