American, 1954
Curved stand away mink collar and revers, fitted front bodice with two-button closure, dropped shoulder with inset shaped sleeves, the full back of unpressed pleats caught with curved quarter belt, two hip line slanted pockets trimmed with mink, street length, size 6, labeled: Dressmaker Casuals Inc./Charles James/Imported Fabric.
Very good condition, some wear on mink trim and elbows.
James received his second Coty American Fashion Critics Award, a special citation for "giving new life to an industry through his sculpturesque ready-to-wear coats designed for Dressmaker Casuals", a contract that only lasted a few months.
