Irene Draped Black Evening Gown American, 1950s
American, 1950s
Of gossamer silk souffle, the strapless bodice draped and ruched, and sewn with single layer diagonal shoulder piece, the skirt full and flowing, with extra front panel emanating from beaded crescent shape at right waist, draping in low loop at front and terminating at upper back, size 4, labeled: Irene/Exclusively for Bullocks Wilshire.
Very good condition, one small tear at hem.
Souffle was an ultra fine silk fabric created by Bianchini especially for Irene. Its use was discontinued because it was found to be highly flammable.
