Lanvin Beaded Satin Dress
French, 1916
The voluminous ’monastic’ style dress of brown satin embroidered with pearlescent white beadwork from shoulders to mid thigh to form tunic shape, the fullness created with pleating under each arm, folding into narrow line when belted, the long sleeves tapered and flared at cuff, waist length underbodice with grosgrain band at bottom, narrow tie belt, closures at shoulder and back neckline, labeled on band: Jeanne Lanvin/Paris/Hiver 1916, the date embroidered in blue thread.
Excellent condition, belt probably not original.
