Queen Marie (1869-1937)was the grand-daughter of Queen Victoria and Czar Nicholas I of Russia. She married King Ferdinand of Rumania in 1893. She was noted for her beauty and idolised by her people. During W.W.1 she devoted herself to the Red Cross and worked tirelessly to support her stricken people driven into exile by the ’Hun’.
