An embroidered summer dragon robe, jifu, Chinese, circa 1900, the blue open-weave gauze ground couched and embroidered in red and blue silks, gilt threads with nine coiling dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls, striped lushui hem, length from base of neck to hem 135cm, 53in long



Provenance: Brought back from China by Colonel O’Sullivan, Chief of Staff to the China Expeditionary Force, 1900-1901 in relation to the Boxer rebellions. He was stationed in China 1900-1902. Passed by descent through the family to the current vendor.
