to create what became the world’s most complicated watch\, a title it he
ld for 56 years following its delivery in 1933. Conceived during a rivalry
with James Ward Packard\, the Supercomplication cost CHF 60\,000 and requ
ired eight years to complete.\n\nDelivered on 19 January 1933\, the Patek
Philippe Henry Graves Supercomplication is a pocket watch comprising 24 co
mplications\, including a celestial chart depicting the night sky above Gr
aves’s Manhattan residence at 834 Fifth Avenue. In 2014\, the Supercompl
ication established a world auction record when it sold at Sotheby’s Gen
eva for approximately CHF 24 million.\n\nThe horological legacy of Henry G
raves Jr. was continued by his grandson\, Reginald “Pete” Fullerton Jr
.\, an important collector in his own right. His collection included the p
resent Patek Philippe reference 5004\, a perpetual calendar split‑second
s chronograph wristwatch\, which was sold by Sotheby’s in 2012 as part o
 f the landmark Graves–Fullerton family collection.\n\nReference 5004 was
introduced in 1994 and produced until 2009. It built on the legacy of the
perpetual calendar 3970\, inheriting the layout while adding a split-seco
nds chronograph. Powered by the Lemania-based calibre CHR 27-70 Q\, the mo
vement was finished to Geneva Seal standards\, observable through the sapp
hire crystal display back. It is estimated that just over 1\,000 examples
were made\, with around 300 in platinum. The present example is very well
preserved and retains all original accessories.\n\nSotheby’s New York\,
