Description du catalogue

A Paquin/Worth embellished pink faille ballgown, circa 1955

Paquin labelled, the boned bodice with pleated neckline and straps, the full skirt heavily embellished with beads and sequins depicting trailing flowers, ribbons and bows, waist 66cm 26in

In 1954, the House of Paquin merged with the House of Worth. A nearly identical gown to this one is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, accession no. T.214&A-1973, with a Worth label. The gown in the V&A was designed by Owen Hyde Clark for Worth London, and the embellishment is to silk dupion rather than silk faille.

Paquin-Worth closed in 1956.
