Zion Williamson, the top selection in the 2019 NBA Draft, began his professional career with the New Orleans Pelicans after a standout freshman season at Duke University. His debut was delayed until January 2020 following a meniscus tear suffered during the NBA Summer League, but he made an immediate impact with a 22-point performance in his first regular-season game, including a streak of 17 consecutive points that showcased his rare combination of strength, explosiveness, and finesse.

During his rookie season, Williamson’s arrival energized the Pelicans franchise. Despite being on a minutes restriction, he delivered several standout performances, including a 35-point game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He also recorded the first two triple-doubles of his career over a two-week span in February and March, including a 27-point, 10-rebound, 11-assist performance on February 27, 2025, in a 124–116 victory at Phoenix. At the time of cataloging, Williamson holds career averages of 24.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.
