The Birkin bag by Hermès takes its name from the English singer and actress Jane Birkin, muse of designers year after year, who during a meeting with Jean Louis Dumas, president of the firm, on a plane, explained to him that she could not find any comfortable travel bag where she could keep her baby’s bottles, book, etc., and that was also easy to open. Together they designed the Birkin bag to meet Jane’s needs, resulting in an accessory that has become one of the most desired icons in the fashion world. The spectacular bag has a spacious interior with multiple pockets and, as Jane Birkin wished, it is easy to open. It is also a very difficult bag to obtain, since very few units are manufactured and there is a long waiting list to acquire it, which can be even years.
