 stume accessories\, they were an integral part of the Western outfit desig
 ned for the character\, whose dark\, streamlined silhouette contrasted wit
 h that of the rest of the group. Brynner\, who was particularly attentive 
 to his on-screen appearance\, took part in selecting certain elements of h
 is costume\, including these spurs\, which are visible in several scenes o
 f the film.\n\nDirected by John Sturges\, The Magnificent Seven is the Ame
 rican adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai. Shot in Mexico\, the
  film brings together Yul Brynner\, Steve McQueen\, Charles Bronson\, Jame
 s Coburn\, Robert Vaughn\, Brad Dexter\, and Horst Buchholz as a group of 
 mercenaries hired to defend a village. The film has since become a classic
  of the Western genre and one of the most iconic roles of Brynner’s care
 er.
