Trained at the California School of Fine Arts and influenced by Constructivism and the Bauhaus, De Patta fused avant-garde design principles with meticulous craftsmanship. Her innovative use of materials—especially transparent stones, kinetic elements, and custom optical settings—created pieces that explored light, movement, and spatial perception. A founding member of the San Francisco Metal Arts Guild, she championed the idea of jewelry as art rather than ornament, leaving an enduring legacy that continues to shape contemporary studio jewelry today.
