The Patek Philippe reference 5160, launched in 2010 as the successor to reference 5159, is a masterclass in both artisanal handcraft and modern horological innovation. From the very first glance, one is captivated by the exquisite engravings that adorn the dial, case, screws, and even the clasp. The spirals and scroll patterns on the Officer-style case pay homage to historical watches of the early 20th century, marrying vintage inspiration with contemporary craftsmanship.

Exclusively executed in white gold, the engraved grooves are blackened with silver powder to highlight the intricate detailing and enhance the watch’s overall vintage aesthetic. This subtle yet meticulous finishing underscores Patek Philippe’s dedication to heritage and artisanal precision, achieving a perfect balance between decorative mastery and classic design.

Evocative of vintage pocket watches, the 5160 features a hinged cuvette that reveals the magnificent movement within. The automatic perpetual calendar movement combines sophistication and practicality, establishing the watch as a quintessential dress timepiece. The present example is the upgraded 2016 version, featuring elegant Breguet numerals in place of Roman numerals. Coupled with the engraved dial and classic spearhead hands, the design achieves absolute harmony.

This particular lot is offered double sealed, emphasising its pristine condition. Although the reference 5160 remains in production, examples are rarely seen on the market due to the extremely limited production dictated by the extensive handcraft required for each watch.
