A fine Charles Frederick Worth capelet circa 1893
labelled and numbered 36672, of black mesh appliqué with peacock-blue/green shot silk acanthus scrolls edged in black bugle beads and adorned with sequins, with lining of goffered chiffon, black satin pleated flounces to the shoulders, silk stand collar applied with a imitation Venetian needlepoint lace wired ruff, jet-like beaded fringes cascading down the front and back panels
Provenance Lady Amelia Fitzgerald (nee Bischoffsheim) 1858-1947, also affectionately known as ‘Lily’. She was married to Maurice FitzGerald, 2nd Baronet of Valencia, 20th Knight of Kerry (1844 - 1916) an Irish nobleman, landowner, soldier and yachtsman.
